Before you start

  • You need admin permissions.

  • Decide the name of the dataset and where it should appear in the navigation (Navigation Group and label).

Open Collections

Go to Collections in the left sidebar and click New Collection.

Fill out the Create Collection form

  1. Name
Enter a clear, singular name (for example: Keys, Cloudservers, IP addresses).

  2. Sort Order
Choose a number to control the position of this collection in its navigation group.
Lower numbers appear higher in the list.

  3. Description (optional)
Add a short explanation to help users understand the purpose of this dataset.

  4. Choose an Icon
Pick an icon that represents the dataset. This icon appears in the navigation and headers.

  5. Navigation Group
Select the root menu where this collection should live (for example: Connected People, Cloud, Facility Management, System, Senbee Connect).

    • Use Create new if you need a fresh group.

  6. Navigation Label (optional)
Override the default display name in the sidebar without changing the internal collection name.

  7. Enabled
Toggle on to make the collection visible and usable for admins and editors. You can disable it later without deleting data.

  8. Click Create Collection.

What happens next

  • The collection is added to the chosen Navigation Group with your icon and label.

  • You will land on the collection workspace where you can start defining fields.

Tip: Keep names short and specific. Your users will search and filter by these names.

Next steps

  • Add fields to define the structure of your records (text, number, date, relation, options, and more).

  • Set the primary display field under Settings so items show a human-readable label wherever they are referenced.

Troubleshooting

  • I cannot see the collection in the sidebar
Make sure the collection is Enabled and the Navigation Group is correct.

  • It appears in the wrong place
Adjust the Sort Order or move it to a different Navigation Group.

  • I need a different label in the menu
Set a Navigation Label to change the sidebar text without renaming the collection.
